Press Statement by the office of the Liberia First Movement  Political Party Leader,  Sheikh Al moustapha Kouyateh

As I watched the distressing video of the deplorable act of mob violence and molestation perpetrated against a Liberian lady, my heart was filled with anguish and profound sorrow. Witnessing the merciless beating and humiliation of a fellow citizen, a sister, a mother, and a daughter, is a grave affront to our shared humanity, and it is an act that must be unequivocally condemned.

No matter the circumstances or alleged transgressions, there can be no justification for such an abhorrent display of lawlessness and disregard for the dignity and rights of an individual. The sight of onlookers either participating in the act or passively observing while the violence unfolded is deeply troubling and demands urgent action and reform.

This incident starkly underscores the urgent need for reform within our security and judicial systems. We cannot, as a society, condone or tolerate the perpetuation of such barbaric acts. It is an indictment on our collective conscience, and it is a call for immediate and resolute action.

I am calling on the Government of President Weah to take decisive measures to address this egregious incident and to take concrete steps to prevent the recurrence of such lawless behavior. It is imperative that the relevant authorities thoroughly investigate this matter and ensure that those responsible for this heinous act are swiftly brought to justice.

I also implore the Joint Presidential Transitional Team to give this matter the utmost attention and to advocate for the protection and safety of the victim. The Government of Liberia must ensure the safety and well-being of the victim and provide the necessary support to aid in her recovery from this traumatic experience.

We cannot, and will not, allow our society to descend into lawlessness. It is imperative that the rule of law prevails, and that justice is served in this and all similar cases. We must stand together in solidarity to uphold the principles of justice, compassion, and respect for all individuals within our society.

As we move forward, it is my sincere hope that this distressing incident serves as a catalyst for meaningful and enduring change within our society, and that it reinforces our collective commitment to creating a just, safe, and inclusive environment for all Liberians.
