Concern Women of across the Country joined a human rights advocate group “the Justice Forum Liberia JFL” to protest against the sale and consumption of illegal drugs in the Country , characterizing it as the current National Emergency and medical crisis.
On Monday April 10, 2022, the groups staged a daylong protest beginning from the Foreign Affairs Ministry and climaxing with the petition at the Ministry of Health in Congo Town.
“As a Civil Society Organizations, Justice Forum Liberia along with other Women groups from Soniwein community, Westpoint, Newkru town and tye Country at large are here by toet you know that we are very about the speed in which the sale and the consumption of the substance known as Shisha/Hookah and Kush across our Country “, the groups cried out.
Presenting their petition to the Health Minister in Congo Town on Monday April 10, the lead Campaigner Mr. Maxon Kpakio claimed that there have been several created for the sale and consumption of illegal drugs across the entire Country .
According to them, the growing wave of the establishment of the sale and consumption venues have had serious Quest in undermining the already health challenge the Nation is faced with and several threats on the life of their unborn generation to generation.
Maxon Kpakio who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Justice Forum Liberia JFL emphasized that whenever the youths abuse the Chush drug, their brains collapse and begin to behave like zombies and subsequently pass off/ die.
However, the groups made a request for a robust action against drugs importers and dealers across the territory boundary of Liberia and said the commonly sold and consumable drugs now known as kush kills faster than any outbreak in history.
Received their petition on behalf of health Minister, Dr. Wilhelmina Jallah. Assistance Health Minister for Administration, Mr. James Forkpah assured the groups of taking a possible reaction to their request.
Minister Forkpah noted that as the sale and consumption of illegal drugs become an alarming situation in the society, it’s a time for every Liberian to stand strong against it in order to save the youths and Future generations.
