The Civil Society Organization,Center for Transparency and Accountability in Liberia CENTAL frowns on President Weah for his failure to fight corruption as Liberia declined in the fight against corruption, according to 2022 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index reports.
CENTAL Executive Director, Mr. Anderson Miamen said Liberia has declined six points in West Africa over the last five years under the Weah regime, showing no significant efforts applied by Weah to subsidize corruption.
According to the index, Liberia has declined six points in West Africa over the last five years.
He accused Weah of failing to fight corruption and ending the culture of impunity but encouraged corrupt officials in his circles.
Speaking in an interview with the Voice of America DayBreak Africa on Thursday, Miamen called on President George Weah to lead by example in the fight against corruption by going after alleged corrupt officials including his confidants.
He urges the Liberian leader to demonstrate sincerity by investigating and prosecuting officials of the government suspected of corruption and make sure that the government fully funds anti-graft institutions to go after them.
