Dr. Arthur Jones Wuoh, the medical director of CB Dunbar Comprehensive Hospital in Gbarnga, has called on the Bong County legislative caucus and the national government to raise the hospital’s budget.
In a weekend interview at his office, Dr. Wuoh revealed that the current budget of $100,000 is insufficient to effectively operate the hospital. He outlined various challenges stemming from the limited funding, including the high costs of medical supplies, equipment, and staff salaries.
Dr. Wuoh emphasized the critical need for adequate funding, noting that the hospital serves a large population in Gbarnga and surrounding areas. “Our hospital addresses a wide range of medical needs, from surgeries to specialized treatments, all of which require substantial financial resources,” he said.
He appealed to the national government to prioritize the health sector and ensure increased budgets for all public hospitals in the country. Dr. Wuoh underscored that a well-funded health sector is vital for delivering quality healthcare services to the population.
Furthermore, Dr. Wuoh urged the Bong County legislative caucus and the national government to take swift action to increase the hospital’s budget. “With proper funding, CB Dunbar Hospital can enhance its services and better serve the people of Bong County,” he stated.
Dr. Wuoh’s plea highlights the broader need for investment in Liberia’s healthcare system, ensuring that hospitals have the resources necessary to meet the medical needs of their communities.
