Eleven Nigerians with one Cameroonian have been rescued by fishermen in Grandcess, Grand Kru county after being allegedly drop in the Ocean by a Chinese Cargo Ship with service name “OPHELIA PANAMA”
Unidentified Fishermen in Grand Cases reported 12 Men to local authorities after rescuing them in their territory Sea late Monday evening September 12, this year.
According to our source , Grandcess fishermen rescued foreign nationals after allegedly being dumped in an ocean by a Chinese Congo ship they boarded for Japan.
“We got on the ship from the Nigeria database traveling to Japan to seek Job opportunities due to the economic downturn we are facing in our country”, the rescued Nigerians explained in tears..
One of the survivors, only identified as Emmanuel Bea, said they were fourteen on the ship who were making their way from Nigeria to Japan, but due to chemical spread in the water by the Chinese, after they were dumped, two of their colleagues got drunk and died.
Our source has also hinted us that the 12 Men have been turned over to the Liberian immigration service (LIS) Grand Kru chapter for further investigation, while LIS have assured to protect them keeping with the aliens and nationality law.
Speaking with Deacon Harrison Eva Aniukwu, the President General of the Nigeria Community and Descendants union of Liberia via Phone, he said they are closely working with the Community Chairman in the southeastern part of the Country with the Liberian Government to see how they can turn them over safety in Monrovia.
Also speaking via phone, the official Spokesperson of the Liberia Immigration services , Mr. Abraham Dolley confirmed the 12 Foreign nationals of being rescued and said they are in possession of the Grand Kru LIS County Chapter team.
“Our County Commander is currently investigating the cause of the incident. They are in good health”, the LIS spokesman acknowledged.
According to him, 11 Nigerians and one Cameroonian were rescued and will soon be turned over to the LIS headquarters in Monrovia for proper investigation and further determination on their next step.
